With a background in critical care, Wendy Nicklin has taught at universities and held senior administrative hospital positions. She was President and CEO of Accreditation Canada (2004-2016). Wendy’s strong commitment to improving the quality of healthcare and strengthening leadership has permeated her career.
Wendy has extensive governance experience. Currently she is a Board member at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa and with Hospice Care Ottawa. While completing her term (2021) on the Board of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), Wendy continues to survey with the ISQua External Evaluation Association. She is engaged with both Patients for Patient Safety Canada (2020) and the WHO PFPS Network (2022). As an Emeritus member of CHLNet, contributing to the strengthening of healthcare leadership in Canada remains a priority.
Wendy has numerous publications to her name and gives presentations internationally focusing on quality improvement, accreditation and leadership.
Receiving her B.N. and M.Sc.(A) from McGill University, Wendy is a Fellow and Expert of ISQua; member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care; and a certified Corporate Director with the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D). Recent awards include the CCHL Eastern Ontario Chapter Award for Distinguished Service in 2012, the University of Ottawa Telfer School of Management Preceptor award for 2016 and the 2018 Legacy of Leadership Award, a lifetime achievement award from HealthCareCAN.
