Hospice Palliative Care Volunteer Core Training

Hospice Care Ottawa requires all client care volunteers to complete a 30 hour Volunteer Core Training. Our next training will be in fall of 2022. All new client care applicants will be contacted when our next training is available.  Applicants accepted into the program will learn the necessary tools and skills to become a hospice volunteer.

Application Process

If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer, please fill out an application by visiting this link.

If you meet the criteria, you will be contacted and invited to an Information Session prior to our next training.

After the Information Session, you will sign up for an Interview.  Following the interview, you will wait for an invitation into the course.

Please note: Successful completion of the application process does not guarantee a volunteer placement with Hospice Care Ottawa

Selection Process

Priority will be given to applicants who:

have flexible availability;

can commit to a regular weekly assignment for at least one year;

speak a second language;

are flexible as to the program in which they will volunteer;

are existing volunteers who meet the criteria
