Sheila Brady has a deep commitment to hospice. She is a volunteer in the residences at our May Court Hospice and Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice sites and serves on the Hospice Care Ottawa Volunteer Council. Sheila is a career journalist who has worked for the Ottawa Journal, United Press Canada and the Ottawa Citizen. Her beats have included politics and other major areas. At the Ottawa Citizen she launched a series of special sections and Ottawa Living magazine. Sheila became Homes Editor of the Citizen and oversaw a staff of writers, freelancers and designers, while writing weekly columns and feature stories. Her biggest pleasures were focusing on Habitat for Humanity and its mandate to provide housing for the working poor and her later involvement at the Hospice at May Court and Homes for the Holidays event. Sheila has led a number of successful community fundraising campaigns to support CHEO, the Ottawa Hospital, the United Way, and the YM-YWCA, where she launched a golf tournament to send hundreds of girls to Camp Davern.
