Our bereavement retreats are offered as a one-day event to offer the recently bereaved the opportunity to connect with others who share similar grief experiences, fostering a sense of community and support. These days typically include an informative presentation on grief by one of our counselors and a time of sharing in small groups (4-5 people) facilitated by our bereavement volunteers. Participants will enjoy a beautiful lunch served by Hospice Care Ottawa and close the day with a choice of activities focused on expressing your grief, such as art activities, meditation or walks.
In addition to our bereavement retreats, we offer a variety of workshops and presentations throughout the year focused on specific themes such as Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID), raising grieving children, legacy work or coping with special holidays. These sessions aim to equip participants with practical tools and insights to help them navigate their grief and the complexities that arise after the loss of a loved one.
These events are available free of charge to anyone in the community grieving a death due to a life limiting illness. Please contact the Bereavement Services Coordinator for further information at 613-591-6002 ext. 243.
