Christine Beelen graduated from Carleton University’s School of Journalism in 1980 and worked briefly in radio and then as a communications specialist for the provincial and federal governments for 33 years.  She worked for Statistics Canada, Canadian Heritage and Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Throughout her life she has volunteered for several organizations including Big Brothers Toronto, Chairing the Pastoral Council for her parish, being Chair of the parent council at her son’s elementary school, and Secretary on the Community Association in her neighbourhood of Westcliffe in Bells Corners.

In 2000 she joined The May Court Club of Ottawa and over the years worked on a large number of service projects and committees.  When she took early retirement from the Public Service in 2013, she joined the Board of Directors in a variety of positions culminating in President (2020-2022).  She is also Past President of her parish’s Catholic Women’s League council and a member of the executive of the Canadian Author’s Association National Capital Region.
